Kids’ Basketball Classes

Learn the fundamentals of basketball and teamwork with Hoop Stars Kids’ Basketball Classes

The preschool class is a fun, welcoming introduction to basketball for pre-K learners. Each week, kids work on beginner skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense through play-based drills designed to build coordination and motor skills at an age-appropriate pace. Good sportsmanship and team concepts are woven into every session, so children are learning more than basketball. The preschool class focuses on having fun and feeling confident in an encouraging environment while learning to play basketball at an age-appropriate level. After the preschool class, players advance to the kindergarten-2nd grade class.

The kindergarten-2nd-grade class is designed for any child who has taken the Hoop Stars preschool class or is picking up a basketball for the first time. Each week, kids continue building on the core fundamentals of the game using slightly larger basketballs and a higher hoop. Mini-games are introduced along the way, giving children a chance to put their skills to use while learning what it means to compete with good sportsmanship and to work together as a team.  After the kindergarten-2nd grade classes, players advance to clinics and leagues.

“There is a great need in our society for programs like this. One where everyone is welcome, they can have fun, yet learn a skill set that will benefit them later on. Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter every week lets me know that this program is invaluable. I would love to see it expand to older age groups and be able to branch out to support all those that are interested in being a Hoop Star.”
